There’s NOTHING like experiencing Fall at the beach. The Seaside Vacations family LOVES this time of year that we like to call our “Second Season.” Schools are back in session, leaving our beaches, boardwalks, and restaurants much quieter than even just a week or two ago, but the great weather, amazing communities and events, and delicious food is all still here!
Both Chincoteague Island and Ocean City take on an entirely different vibe at this magical time of year, and we can’t wait to share it with you and your family! Here are a few reasons we always encourage our guests to visit during our Second Season:
Summer beach traffic can be a complete headache. Spending time close to your loved ones is time that we all cherish, but spending endless time searching for a decent parking spot can be frustrating to say the least. Beach days in the fall are quite different. Get exactly where you want to be in half the time, and spend more time creating memories!
Hot summer days can be draining, especially if you’re bringing young children along. Fall on the other hand, is the PERFECT time for spending a full day at the beach, and you’ll be surprised at how amazing the weather can be! This time of year is also the best time of year for outdoor activities like kayaking, cycling, hiking the areas’ nature trails, and beach strolls. Keep an eye on the local forecast, and when the perfect weekend pops up, check out our Fall availability! Remember, we just have a 3 night minimum in the off season, so a quick weekend getaway is easier than ever!
Whether you’re a photographer or just appreciate the natural beauty associated with coastal living, both Chincoteague and Ocean City offer BREATHTAKING sunrise and sunset views. Grab a good book, a speaker for some relaxing beach tunes, and a couple of beach chairs/towels, and watch Mother Nature paint the sky with hues of gold, pink, and lavender, turning the shoreline into a larger than life sized canvas.
Did you know that you can build campfires on Assateague?! Both the Maryland and Virginia sides of Assateague allow campfires, perfect for gathering and taking in a sunrise or sunset. Some of our Chincoteague Island properties even have fire pits on site, so you can get nice and cozy without having to head over to the beach! Campfires are the perfect way to end a day of exploring and creating memories.
Both Chincoteague and Ocean City have a host of events on the horizon that are perfect for the entire family! Chincoteague’s Oyster Festival and Fall Round Up will take center stage at this time of year, but if you haven’t experienced Halloween on Chincoteague, you’ve been missing out! Downtown Main Street is one of our favorite days of the year, as the community opens its doors to the young and young at heart for an evening full of amazing costumes and delicious treats!
Ocean City’s Second Season is highlighted by two epic music festivals (Ocean’s Calling and Country Calling), Endless Summer Cruisin, and the largest outdoor festival in the region, Sunfest! Be sure to circle these weekends on your calendars!
Perhaps our favorite part of the Second Season, you’ll have more opportunities to interact with locals and experience the true spirit of these charming coastal towns. Visit local artisans, explore quaint shops, and enjoy conversations with locals who would love to share their stories and recommendations! These interactions often develop into lifelong friendships, and you’ll have some insider tips on places to go and things to do on your future visits!
