Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner looking to pick up this fast-growing sport, Chincoteague offers a great pickleball scene for locals and visitors alike! Here’s your guide on how to best experience pickleball on Chincoteague!

Where to play:
  • Donald J Amrien Rec Center: Located on the corner of Smith St. and School St., the Amrien Rec Center has 3 indoor and 4 outdoor courts available for use!

Tips for pickleball players visiting Chincoteague:
  • Plan Ahead: Check the availability of courts, especially during peak tourist seasons. Booking your time in the Playtime Scheduler app (https://playtimescheduler.com/) is the best way to secure your preferred playing time or see how popular the courts will be on any given day!

  • Bring your gear: You will need to bring your own equipment when playing at the Donald J Amrien Rec Center! If you've arrived on the island and don't have any with you, Chincoteague Island Outfitters has sets including 2 paddles and a ball for about $20!

  • Stay Hydrated: The island can get quite warm, especially in the middle of summer. Bring plenty of water and stay hydrated to ensure you’ll have a safe, fun session on the court!

  • Join a game: Don’t be shy! The local pickleball community is welcoming and always looking for new players! Join a game and make new friends!
